….. One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity
The chant of the National anthem and pledge is no doubts one of the unique things about Nigeria but the issue is how well we uphold it. Today, our dear nation is faced with myriad of challenges and until we all work together to demonstrate some patriotic love for Nigeria, the crisis will continue to expand. There is one fact I like to emphasize on and the fact is that “the day you stop blaming the government is the day you realize your responsibility is greater than that of government”.
Nigeria is the giant of Africa and one great nation to reckon with in the continent of Africa. Although, it is being faced with a lot of challenges, I strongly believe it remains a force in the emancipation and realization of the greatness of Africa and the universe at large.
The term “patriotism” has erroneously being translated to laying down one’s life for the country but let me tell you, in truth and fact, patriotism entails being loyal to our dear nation and its interest. If patriotism is being demonstrated on a wide range, trust me, Nigeria will continue to move forward no matter what the odds might seem to be.
Patriotism starts with you and I, it is not particular to any age grade, status, tribe, and religion whatsoever. Our past heroes did not fight and lay down their lives only for us to live in disunity, economic, social, or political instability. They fought because they believed in a better Nigeria; they fought for our generation and the future generation. Let us say no to tribalism, favoritism and nepotism, let us say no to corruption and exploitation.
There are different ways to show patriotism, staying true to at least one of them will go a long way in putting Nigeria on the right direction. “Play your part set Nigeria on the right path”.
Let us start with tolerance, here, I mean religious tolerance, inter-ethnic tolerance, tolerance of any form. Nigeria as a nation with diverse tribes and practice of different religion has made us see one another as being different because to me, none of these are barriers to national unity, therefore, I enjoin us to live for peace and love.
Another thing is exercising our civic rights and duties; this is very germane and sacrosanct for the progress of our dear nation. Abiding by the rule of law should not be left out as it tends to put a check on crime rate, when there is less crime in the society, it becomes a better place to be. Also, actively participating in politics should never be overlooked as it is a factor responsible for the electing representatives who would directly pilot the affairs of this great nation. Together, we can make a Nigeria
God bless Nigerians,
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria,
God bless Africa.
